Thurston County has confirmed its second known case of COVID-19.

The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department announced today (Thursday, April 23) that a male in his 20s has tested positive. This is the fourth case with the NNPHD region that comprises Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne Counties.

Public Health has begun an investigation, knows how this person was exposed to the virus and has identified close contacts who need to quarantine and monitor for symptoms.

Testing is being ramped up across the state, according to NNPHD. On Tuesday, Governor Pete Ricketts announced a new compaign to increase testing across the state called Test Nebraska, which will soon offer free COVID-19 testing to Nebraskans. To learn more, visit
