Across the region youth are starting up their own businesses and making money right from home. For students going into the 5th through the 8th grades, a two-day Making Money Camp may be for you.  Participants will learn about many of the skills needed to be successful entrepreneurs.  They will develop a business plan, borrow money from a banker, design advertising and marketing slogans; decide how to price a product and figure profit and loss, all in a simplified and fun way.

Each camper will make products to sell to customers at the Camp Marketplace. Tours of local entrepreneurial businesses will also be included.

This years’ camp is being offered June 13 and 14 at the Pender Public School.  Registration deadline is June 4th and the camp is limited to 30 participants. Sponsorship from the Pender State Bank and the Charter West National Bank are letting us offer the camp this year with no registration cost.  Registration forms can be obtained online at:  or by calling the UNL extension office in Thurston (402-385-6041) or  Pender Economic Development at (402-922-1652) or the Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation and Development Council (402-582-4866).
