Gamma Iota was organized on March 1, 1955. Charter members were Edine Zeplin, Janice Westerhold, Vivian Pieper, Donna Stafford, Joanne Powley, Faye Christiansen, Karen Baker, Mila Jean Krusemark, Ardyce Simonsen, Sharon Bettenhausen, Barbara Krusemark, and Marian Dahlman. Gamma Iota disaffiliated from the national organization in 1980. Some of the many fundraisers that we have organized in the past have been making and selling May baskets and Easter baskets, catering for cash, selling popcorn and candy, and running a penny pitch stand. The only Philanthropic project we currently partake in is the American Flag display along Highway 9 in Pender.

Our first Stagette was held in 1965 and was our sole means of supporting our Philanthropic projects. Members prepared the fried chicken, potato salad and baked beans. During more recent years, we have had our Stagette meats catered with members preparing salads. The addition of the Homemakers Fair was added several years ago and each year we have had around 20 tables of crafts. After 43 years of hosting the Stagette, our final celebration was held in 2008.

We have made contributions to the Pender School System, Pender High School scholarship fund, summer recreation program, Legion Hall, Twin Creeks Golf Club, Veterans Memorial Park and other community fundraisers.

Current Gamma Iota members are: Joan Beutler, Sharon Buchholz, Elaine Christiansen, Faye Christiansen, Betty Copple Jasa, Janet Hansen, Beverly Kai, Charlene Kinning, Sharlene Krusemark, Mary Lake, Donna McQuistan, Sandy Miller, Mary Ellen Olsson, Sandy Pomeroy, Faye Ross, Janice Smith, and Carolyn VonSeggern.
